Group A
Portugal v Czech Republic
Since the Czech Republic gained independence in 1993, both teams have met once - it was in the ¼ finals of Euro 1996 when the Czech Republic won 1-0 in Birmingham courtesy of a goal by Karel Poborsky.
Portugal first met Czechoslovakia in 1930 - Portugal won the friendly 1-0 in Lisbon.
The last time Portugal defeated Czechoslovakia was in a World Cup qualifier in October 1984 in Porto.
Both teams secured their wins in their opening game with goals in the last 30 minutes.
The Czech Republic managed only one shot on target in their first match against Switzerland.

Germany managed to win their last match against Croatia though. This came in February 2004 in Zagreb; and the Germans prevailed 2-1 - with Miroslav Klose opening the scoring and Carsten Ramelow hitting a last minute winner.
Both German goals against Poland were left-footed.

Romania v Italy
Italy have won their last four matches against Romania - the last coming in November 2003, when they won 1-0.
Romania have failed to score in any of their last four matches against the Italians.
The last time that Romania managed to defeat Italy came back in March 1989 - winning 1-0 in a home friendly.
Romania have never managed to defeat Italy outside their home nation.
Roberto Donadoni and Victor Piturca faced each other as players in the 1988/89 European Cup final in Barcelona. Milan won 4-0 on the day with two goals scored by the current Netherlands manager Marco Van Basten.

These two sides met at Euro 2000, when the Dutch prevailed 3-2 in their Group D match.
Their last meeting came in March 2004 when they drew 0-0 in a friendly in Rotterdam.
France last managed to defeat the Dutch in February 1997. Goals from Robert Pires and Patrice Loco cancelled out a Dennis Bergkamp strike to seal a 2-1 win for the French in Paris.

Spain v Sweden
These two sides came through the same qualification group to get to Euro 2008, and on the two occasions that they met the home side won, keeping a clean sheet. (Spain 3-0 Sweden, Sweden 2-0 Spain).
Both teams drew four times - but in friendlies only.
The last time, Spain and Sweden met on neutral ground, was 1978 in Buenos Aires. Spain won this World Cup's group match 1-0.
David Villa became only the eighth player to score a hat-trick in a European Championship finals, and the first Spaniard to do so.

Greece v Russia
Greece first met the USSR in a World Cup qualifier in May 1965 - a game which the Greeks lost 3-1 away from home.
Russia and Greece met in the Euro 2004 group stages and the Russians managed to win 2-1 - but this was mainly due to the fact that the Greeks had already qualified for the quarter finals. This game also saw eight yellow cards being dished out.
The three matches between Greece and Russia prior to this Euro 2004 game all finished in draws.
